Known as a Gaumukhi Shringi, this is a ritual vessel for pouring libations over a statue of a deity. The name Gaumukhi means “cow’s mouth” and relates to the glacier in the Himalayas of the same name, the source of the river Ganges. It is sacred to do Abisekha to gods with Gaumukhi Shringi.
This ritual vessel is hollow from inside in which water is filled and poured over the idols during abisekha / bath.
