Nandadeep or akanda deep means a lamp that glows forever. This oil lamp has a lid covering the flame/wick which ensures that it glows steadily and composed, for a long period of time, even outdoors and in windy weather. Akhand Deep or Nanda deep are ideal for creating a calm and meditative atmosphere in your pooja room as well as outdoors. Earthen diyas (oil lamps) are used temporarily as lighting for special occasions, while diyas made of brass are mostly permanent fixtures in homes and temples. Diyas are native to India, and are often used in Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Zoroastrian religious festivals such as Diwali, Karthikai Deepam or the Kushti ceremony. The diyas are mainly used as oil lamps.
