BR VIRABADRA Weight: 2.300GRM
Veerabhadra (or Virabhadra) is the brutal, warrior type of Master Shiva. He was made by Shiva in his displeasure, to vindicate the demise of his partner, Sati, who immolates herself in the wake of confronting embarrassment at a Yagna (fire penance) composed by her dad, Daksha. Sati and Shiva were not welcome to this Yagna, yet she choses to go to it, just to be offended by her dad before visitors.
On finding out about her demise, Shiva orders Veerabhadra to lead his military to the site of the Yagna, and annihilate everything afterward. At last, Veerabhadra decapitates Daksha, Sati’s dad.
This figure of Veerabhadra mounted on a pony is an uncommon find from the Karwar zone in Karnataka. Perfectly made, it is made of bronze, cast utilizing the lost wax process.
Veerabhadra is the encapsulation of Shiva’s outrage and eagerness. A furious and ground-breaking god he is relentless and unsurmountable.
This plate shows four gave Veerabhadra in the middle. He holds a Khadga (blade) and Baana (bolt) in his correct hands, a Kavacha (shield) and a Dhanush (bow) in his left two hands. He is flanked on either side by the goat headed Daksha and another divinity, both as petitioners.
